BBH renews hope and health for a Central African refugee
A few years ago, our outpatient staff met a man who had arrived in Seattle after escaping conflict that spread across his home country in Central Africa.
Our nurses and patient navigators began working with him to understand how his medication worked and what he could do to minimize side effects. In partnership with a local church that supported him in securing a permanent place in a shelter, the BBH team got to work helping him find part-time jobs and complete the paperwork his attorney needed to ensure his residency.
Through a lot of hard work, the client successfully met many of his health goals and built a stable life. Recently, his partners at BBH celebrated the news that the client was able to achieve his ultimate goal – bringing his wife and children to the U.S. In 2023, with the help of funding from BBH’s Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS, the client and his family have permanent housing, together.
Every day, stories like these are made possible with the support of our community and friends like you. Your generosity allows our nurses and social workers to spend quality time with clients and tailor our services to their unique needs.
